Mfkavanagh2@gmail.com Ground Source Heat Pumps perform better (higher Coefficient of Performance) at lower and higher temperatures, compared to Air Source Heat Pumps It IS possible to decarbonize with no new net energy demand on the grid. I've proven that with my own home and cars From Judy G : Most fossil fuel product like plastics, synthethics and so on are devastating the natural world. I disagree with protecting these products. If you know anything about human behavior, you'll know that the electrification process will be very slow, alas. Frank H. to Everyone: One comment about Jordan's pitch for hybrid because the grid can't accommodate everyone switching instantly to a full year heat pump. There are two ways to attenuate the electric demand of heat pumps: Hybrid - which locks in fossil in systems that have 30-50 year lifetimes; or simply recognize there will be a gradual transition to these more-electric systems. By the time they reach high penetration we will have much more renewable energy on the grid. William A. to Everyone: There are 5 new nuclear systems now being built and funded by the DOE.
