MIDDLETOWN FOR CLEAN ENERGY; MOMOUTH COUNTY FOR CLEAN ENERGY

PROPOSED 2019 MEETINGS   (for discussion - looking for volunteers to propose topics/speakers and create agenda)

TOPICS:

• A bimonthly  guest speaker program on a specific climate change topic
• An interleaving bimonthly movie + discussion with a topical expert  

SPONSORS: other local/regional climate organizations to co-sponsor (CCL?, UUMC Environmental Committee, (MCCC?),  clean water, as applicable for a given talk. )

INVITATIONS : all interested Monmouth County residents (most heavily advertised in Middletown)

LOCATION:  a central spot in Middletown.  Location could be UUMC, Middletown Library, Good Shepherd, First Church (especially central!

OBJECTIVE: Middletown residents become increasingly educated/involved.

EXAMPLE SPEAKERS: Jennifer Francis, Research Prof at Rutgers Climate Institute; any of the other featured professors in the fall, 2018 Rutgers alumni magazine (See “Earth in Balance”)

ACTIVITIES:

• Review a recording and slides (if available) of Oct-Nov, 2017  Rutgers Climate Institute conference.
  Keynote Speaker: Cynthia E. Rosenzweig, senior research scientist, NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, Columbia University
  TOPIC: the importantance of cities in reducing carbon emissions and adapting to climate change on a global scale

  TOPIC:: food security and climate change.
