EmpowerNJ Allies,

At our annual meeting on January 13 we announced the formation of two new teams that include and can be led by participants from member organizations.  These teams will enable more members to participate directly in moving forward our 2022 agenda, influencing our policies/tactics and make the most effective use of our combined resources. 

The two new groups will cover the top GHG emitting sectors of the economy as follows:

• Transportation: This group will focus on such issues as highway projects, increasing EV cars and charging stations, and mass transit solutions such as electrifying rail, etc.
• Building Electrification (Residential and Commercial): This group will focus on such issues as increasing the use of heat pumps and other electric appliances, improving electric appliance efficiency and building codes, increasing building energy audit and conservation programs, educating both purchasers and sellers/installers about new technologies such as heat pumps, etc.

We are also planning to form a third new working group to focus on public actions and messaging to increase our pressure on the Murphy Administration to meet its commitments on climate change.
