Steve Wolkovitz, AT&T Building Operations Manager, offered a ~1 hour energy presentation, followed by a tour of energy enhancements. He requested we provide him a range of dates/times we are available for his presentation/tour.
Your response is requested BEFORE our next "Middletown for Clean Energy" meeting, Tuesday August 7, at 7:30
Those wishing to attend the AT&T tour are asked to reply to this post, or forward/annotate this email to
stevemiller@comcast.net Include dates & times you are available the morning (9AM to 12), OR the afternoon (1-4pm) on EACH of the following possible dates:
- Wed, Aug 22 AM ; PM

From your replies, I will provide Mr. Wolkovitz the subset of dates & times most of you are available.
PRESENTATION/TOUR DETAILS:
- Energy Efficiency Improvements: converted all lights to LED; all sensors/motion detectors/controls connected to distributed IP network
- Roof-top solar on Building A; 1Mega Watt Rooftop is leased to a bank which installs and owns the solar panels; AT&T then purchases electricity at ~10% discount through a Purchase Power Agreement. In 10 years, AT&T will own the solar panels.
- Hydrogen fuel cells (80): 2 Mega Watts (24 hours)
- The above electrical sources are connected to AT&T’s electrical grid (a micro-grid?)
- All AT&T facilities are moving to greater energy efficiency and use of renewable energy. An Interactive Dashboard shows current energy performance for each AT&T facility in the US
AT&T PHASE 2:
- Additional solar, including Solar Canopy over parking lots
RESULTS TO DATE: Energy efficiency improvements, and electricity generation has reduced AT&T’s electric bill from $1M/month to between $800K and 900K/month.
We are limited to 100 participants. I have also invited the Middletown and Holmdel "Green Teams". After we have settled on a date/time, I will invite Middletown & Holmdel Committees, as suggested by Mr. Wolkovitz
