Subject: Steve Miller comments on Item 9 “2020 Salary Ordinance” Res 2020-3294,  8/17/2020 Committee Meeting

I am Steven Miller, representing “Middletown for Clean Energy”.  I live at 151 Borden Rd
I have an important question about the listing of a “Vacant” for the position of “Sustainable Jersey Coordinator”.  This is a line entry on tonight’s PACKET,  on page 32, under “2020 Salary Ordinance”

DOES THIS IMPLY THERE IS NO ONE TO FOLLOW-THROUGH ON SUSTAINABLE JERSEY “ACTIONS”, which earn Middletown points for “Silver Certification and “Gold Star in Energy”??

I am very concerned because Middletown Township and the Middletown Green Team rely on Sustainable Jersey guidance,   points,    and certification for both Middletown self-assessment, and ALSO external public display of accomplishments in our on-going greening of Middletown.

Some of the activities related to Sustainable Jersey are done by volunteers, and even more can potentially be done.
WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR STAFFING THE VACANT FUNCTION OF SUSTAINABLE JERSEY COORDINATOR??

ANSWER: Tony Mercantante answered: this “Vacant” line was left over from a part time employee who left, and the function was now part of job of a fulltime employee. I commented that I would now expect to see more activity.
